Membership Guidelines (State/Group)
Professional Associate (Individual registration)
MarkED Membership
Most state education departments are members of the MarkED Consortium. State memberships benefit all public schools within the given state and make all public schools eligible for member pricing and other benefits. Click here for a list of member states/groups.
In non-member states, some county or city groups have joined the Consortium. All public schools within the parameters of these various entities are eligible for full benefits, including member discounts. See above list of member states/groups.
Professional Associate “Membership” is not the same as Consortium membership. Professional Associate registration is available to any individual instructor or trainer anywhere in the world. MarkED Professional Associates receive many of the same benefits as do Consortium members. However, they are not automatically eligible for member pricing. Professional Associates earn ProPoints which may be used for a variety of premiums and free materials.

Established in 1971, the Marketing Education Resource Center (MarkED) is a non-profit (501(c)3) organization incorporated in the state of Ohio. MarkED is organized as a consortium of state education departments and other educational groups. Current membership list available here.

Requirements of Membership
Membership Fees
Annual membership fees are based on the total general population (U.S. Census) of the group's geopolitical area (e.g., state, county, school district), per the following fee structure:
| Population (mil) | Base $ | Plus $/.1 Million |
| 0.0 - 1.0 | 1,000 | 100 |
| >1.0 - 2.5 | 2,000 | 95 |
| >2.5 - 5.0 | 3,425 | 90 |
| >5.0 - 10.0 | 5,675 | 85 |
| >10.0 | 9,925 | 80 |
Example: For a group with a population of 3 million:
Base Fee (for first 2.5m) = $3,425
Additional (for > 2.5m)
3.0 - 2.5 = .5m
.5/.1 = 5 (tenths of millions)
5 X $90 (fee per .1m) = = $ 450Total fee = $3,875
Notes:
1. For existing members (FY 2001), maximum annual increase = 3%.
2. Maximum membership fee is $10,000/year.
3. Fees are established by the Board of Directors per Consortium bylaws
4. Fees are subject to change with one year notice.

In-kind Credits
To encourage the active participation of each member group and its constituents, each may earn credits that accrue to the benefit of the group. The primary purpose of these "in-kind" credits is to underwrite the purchase of sample materials, consulting, training, and other activities to encourage quality instruction and curriculum within the member group. In addition, only when there are no viable alternatives, in-kind credits may be used to underwrite the annual membership fee.
In-kind credits may be earned through negotiated activities that are of benefit to the entire Consortium and that support the annual program of work (e.g., participation in research activities). In addition, credits are earned for product sales within the group's geopolitical area, with the amount of credits based on the total sales/per million population:
| Sales$/million | Rate | |
| < 1,000 | .04 | |
| 1,001 - 2,000 | .043 | |
| 2.001 - 3,000 | .046 | |
| 3,001 - 4,000 | .05 | |
| 4,001 - 5,000 | .053 | |
| 5,001 - 6,000 | .056 | |
| 6,001 - 7,000 | .06 | |
| >7,000 | .063 |
Example: For a group with a population of 3 million, if sales for a given year are $11,700, then:
Sales per million: 11,700/3 = 3,900
Credit rate for 3,900/m = .05
In-kind credit = .05 X 11,700 = $585
Example: For a group with a population of 3 million, if sales for a given year are $20,000, then:
Sales per million: 20,000/3 = 6,667
Credit rate for 6,667/m = .06
In-kind credit = .06 X 20,000 = $1,200
