Implementation of Entrepreneurship Curriculum
Based on Tech Prep Model
Two-Year Pilot Program
MarkED/Career Paths, a national curriculum research center operated by 42 state education departments announces the establishment of the MarkED Entrepreneurship Institute, a training and development program for secondary-postsecondary teams interested in entrepreneurial education.
Key Elements:
· Training and development for an academy-type entrepreneurship program
· Based on national entrepreneurship standards scheduled for release in spring of 2004
· Use of Tech-Prep model, including integration of academics and HS-PS articulation
· Team-based approach
· Advanced curriculum training for faculty, including development of articulated curricula, instructional activities, and work-based experiences
· Use of course guides (HS) and syllabi to be developed and provided by MarkED in cooperation with participating schools/colleges
· Customized curricula within the overall parameters of the 2004 national standards
Requirements: Program implementation for high school beginning in 2004-2005 and for postsecondary partner in 2005-2006.
· Each participating school/college partnership must identify a lead faculty team (minimum of three) to include one or more business faculty from (each) high school and postsecondary institution, and one or more academic faculty or curriculum specialist from the participating high school. Additional team members (HS or PS) may be included at nominal additional cost.
· Participation by required team members in training and follow-up activities over a two-year period. In addition to www, e-mail, and other distance strategies, team members will be required to participate in a five-day workshop in July, 2004 and a three-day follow-up workshop in July, 2005.
Investment: $1,000 per HS/PS partnership, plus $250 per participant in first workshop. (No additional fee for 2005 workshop.) Fee includes all core curriculum materials and training. Fee does not include actual instructional materials, nor cost of travel.
