QUALIFICATIONS DESIRABLE CANDIDATES SHOULD POSSESS
(Other qualifications and experience, which in the opinion of the Commissioner of Education
meet the requirements of the position may be accepted in lieu of the following.)


Master's Degree with major in business education and/or marketing education.

 

Three or more years of teaching, coordinating, or supervising business, marketing, and cooperative education.

 

Knowledge of principles and practices of career education with extensive knowledge of programs in business, marketing and cooperative education.

 

Knowledge of administration of career education including an understanding of state-federal and state-local relationships and the laws and regulations applying.

 

Ability to work cooperatively with other sections within the department and individuals representing inter-related agencies and organizations.

 

Ability to express ideas clearly, both orally and in writing.

 

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with local school officials and associates.

 

The official domicile for this position is Jefferson City, Missouri.  Travel is required of employee.  Mileage and other travel expenses will be reimbursed at the approved rate.

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED

 

Provides statewide leadership to teachers and administrators as it relates to business, marketing and cooperative education programs.

 

Coordinates and directs the implementation of a Business Administration model utilizing Career Clusters specifically related to Business, Management, & Administration; Finance, Information Technology; Marketing, Sales & Service as the basis for the model.

 

Coordinates and directs the supervisory and support staff in providing services to local school districts.

 

Participates in the development of administrative standards and procedures to be used in the establishment and operation of career education programs in the areas assigned to the section.

 

Reviews and makes recommendations on proposals for new programs, budgetary items, and payments to schools.

 

Assists in the preparation and revision of appropriate forms, maintains records for fiscal and statistical accounting, and makes necessary reports.

 

Coordinates the activities of the Career and Technical Student Organizations operated by the section (DECA, Delta Epsilon Chi, FBLA, Phi Beta Lambda).

BENEFITS
(For a Full-Time Position)

VACATION: Generally accrue 10 hours per month for employees with up to ten years of creditable service.  

SICK LEAVE:  Generally accrue 10 hours per month.

FAMILY MEDICAL LEAVE:  After 12 months or 1250 hours of employment, 12 weeks of unpaid leave is available for employees as laid out in the policy.

ORGAN/BONE MARROW DONATION LEAVE:  5 workdays given for bone marrow donation and 30 workdays given for organ donation. 

SCHOOL-VISIT LEAVE:  Up to 8 hours of paid leave for assisting in the classroom with curricular activities or visiting with child’s teacher on curricular activities and other events as outlined in the policy.

HOLIDAYS:  12 holidays per year.

RETIREMENT:  Vested after five years of creditable service.

LIFE INSURANCE:  Free basic life insurance coverage equal to one-times the employee's annual salary.  The minimum coverage amount will remain $15,000.

OPTIONAL LIFE INSURANCE:  Employee may purchase up to 6 times their annual salary.  Spouse and children life insurance coverage is available.

HEALTH PLANS:  Employer-paid/subsidized plans available the month after employment.

DENTAL PLANS:  Several plans are available in limited areas of the state. Employees may pay through a payroll deduction.

VISION PLAN:  Available statewide.  Employees may pay through payroll deduction.

EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM:  Up to six counseling visits per episode per family member per year.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION:  If employee contributes a minimum of $25 per month towards PEBSCO, then the State will contribute an additional $25 per month to eligible employees after 12 continuous months of employment.
